Solving USB compatibility issues in Windows 98

USB devices may not work in Windows 98 Second Edition if your computer uses the following hardware components:

  • An AMD processor (running at 350 Mhz or faster)
  • A VIA Technologies USB Controller.

The VIA Chipset is the latest and delivers a stunning 2.7 GB/sec of memory bandwidth to an AMD Athlon processor.

This occurs due to a timing-specific problem in the Universal Host Controller driver (Uhcd.sys).

To resolve this issue please download the patch.
